Ngoma Town Council Pledges Land for Court Construction Following Stakeholder Engagement
On Tuesday, a stakeholder engagement on access to and administration of justice was held with leaders of Ngoma Town Council in Nakaseke District. The meeting was facilitated by the Chief Magistrate Nakaseke, HW Kwesiga Joseph together with HW Faridah Nakimbugwe, Magistrate Grade One.
The engagement brought together key local leaders including the Member of Parliament-elect for Nakaseke North, Prof. Wilber Ahabwe; the Speaker of Ngoma Town Council, Hon. Baguma, who also represented the Mayor; the Town Clerk, Ms. Rashida; and several area councillors.
The discussion focused on the administration of justice at Ngoma and the challenges faced by the community in accessing court services. Stakeholders highlighted the need to bring judicial services closer to the people in order to reduce the burden of travel and delays experienced by court users seeking justice.
During the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the Courts and local government structures to improve access to justice and ensure timely resolution of disputes within the community.
At the conclusion of the engagement, Ngoma Town Council pledged to allocate land for the construction of a court at Ngoma, a commitment expected to significantly enhance access to judicial services for residents of the area.
The engagement formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen justice delivery at the grassroots level through closer collaboration between the court and local leaders.
